my front leafs are stuffed, the left side sags and only has 4 leafs but the drivers has 5 whats the best way to sort it out? i was quoted $200 from auld and voss to reset them both( and add a 5th on the left..... that seems like an ok price for the 2, then i will just need to replace all the bushings....
would the reset leafs be suitable, im not planning to make it a comp truck or anything
reset will be fine for a while but the more often they are reset the shorter it is before they sag again. I had the same issue with with a hilux and had the springs reset for the offroading to have them start to sag in 3 months, luckily the company (chamberlains) just charged me the difference to go to new spring's for the difference in price new springs were not that much more anyway it is only when you do the shocks also that is gets up there.
ive put in new shocks ( again im on tight budget so nothing flash) already, so is it possible that a reset will just fail again in a short time? i dont want to waste my mula.... but the fact the left side only has 4 in it is bad enough!!
resetting them is only a temporary fix if you are selling the 4x4 then I would do it but if you want to keep it for a while then a set of front springs is the way i would go.
You can get a set made up by a spring maker, are they standard height or lifted?
Oh and Petrol or diesel and do you have a winch or heavy bull bar? the way the hilux steering is setup causes some twisting of the leaf packs, so if reset and used offroad then they will sag quicker as i have been told.
its a diesel with no heavy attachments ( except my foot lol!) and its just std height. im planning to keep it, use it for basic offroading and the likes, so maybe a new set is the better option?
I've had a few cruiser's re-set over the years and found them to stay up ok but they've typically been bigger heavy duty spring packs off LWB flatdecks, lighter spring packs probably sag a lot easier
if your after lifted springs try supralux on here. im not sure if hes still selling them but when i brought some off him they were $265 for the pair. a pretty good price i reckon
Yep, just like those... thats my auction, and yes I'm still selling them although they have gone up - a pair is $325 now... and I would probably recommend you replace the pins shackles and bushes while you are there... depends on your budget which way you go tho... give me a call / TXT or PM me if you want more details
std height HD springs will cost ya $260
greasable shackles and pins $50
nolathane bush kit front (12 bushes) $110
fixing the saggy hilux ...... priceless
Got a Daihatsu Something, hasn't got a Daihatsu engine.... or diffs.... and it doesn't have windows.... or doors.... but its got tyres....
