Shake down was at 3am. LR went into workshop not much different than the pic i posted the other day. Came out and got 4th on the day out of 25 or so trucks Gotta love the 12 hour build from the boys at toytech. Swear the LR is turning into a toyota the more Jase and chopper touch it The only thing it suffered from today was a bad driver and lack of water proofing. It now has no 3rd and 4th gears (due to driver ramming back in during the speed section) but its definitly time for an auto, well on the cards anyway unless a cheap as chips manual comes along (turoa got any lying in the back yard perhaps )


Big big thanks to jase and chopper for the hours, the resourcefullnes and effort in getting the LR to the start line (with a couple of minutes to spare it seems).

Great day yet again Thanks to Bubbles for putting up with my driving, she got real muddy and wet, and also for the hub off your own truck to keep us going, thats good team work mate. Only managed four stages of the first round secondary to a destroyed right hub, seems plenty of Nissans broke hubs today. Once back into the second round I was loving it again. Good to catch up with heaps of Dudes.

Will def be going again next year but I don't think my LWB would ever be able to get though half of those hazards even though there was a LWB Cruiser that was doing bloody well for its size.

Didn't it do bloody well! That was the maroon coloured LWB Cuiser. It was gettin through hazards NO problems.

That number 2 hazard got me when changing gear from 1st to 2nd deep in that boggy bit everyone was getting stuck in. i still got further than Kaney though. His truck did real well till he put it on it's side in the same hazard. Oh what fun.

I recon you owe some of that fouth position to my brother for him loaning you a radiator cap after yours failed. Well done though!!! 4th. (tin ass)

That maroon prado is a mate of mine. On a recent trip he was the only one to make it up sabaru hill without a tow or winching. And he was almost last in the queue too so had to deal with all the track chewed up by the trucks in front.

well what a day, i got 15th in mod. class so its alot better than last years 2nd last in mod. the weather was awesome and there were a s**t load of spectaters out the. the day started and ended well for me apart from popping a tyre off the bead when returning to the pits after compleating the second round, but other than that it was an awesome day. i feel for the other trucks with all manner of breakages. it hopefully didn't ruin anyones day. the new tyres did the truck proud and i even managed to go clear on a few hazzard. this year i managed to hang round till the end of the day so i was there for prize giving, and ended up picking a thermos that will come in handy out on the track, especially the night runs i so love to do.

I'm sure I remember seeing two posts on the front of the winch bar, for locating the strop on earlier in the day Hulux-Happy, is there a bit of a story there?

yeh i'll have video of it later in the week. what happend was when i was returning to the pits and got stuck in the creek after i popped the tyre off , the tractor towed me out and ripped one bar off after the guy that gave the tractor the strop had left it round one of the bars. oh well i was taking them off anyway this week as im now gearing up for getting a bull bar fitted. when i find one anyone....

Was a great day. Pete, your 40 sounds awesome, even the young fella commented that it sounded like a drag car!!! Saw hulux-happy, Mike, Al, and Smokey in action, and doing pretty well also. Definitely a lot better than last year - mainly due to the weather. Bring on 2009.

What was the damage to your truck fitzy, the ground looked pretty hard on that slippery bank

I saw him shining it up in the carpark during the second round. It looked pretty mint from where I was standing.

Looking at the footage it appears it was a nice even roll flat onto the roof and supported by the bullbar too so no undue stress at any point. I didn't see it roll or the recovery but the recovery if not done right might have caused more damage

And this is hazard 2 that finished me. One hazard from completing all 10 for the morning. This one's best played at full volume. I hit the rev limiter just at the end there. Oh well. What a day!!!!

Hi all and a big thank you to all that helped out with my vehicle. To all that have inquired as to the well being of Toyota and Driver, we are both well , the only damage to the Toy; is the roof now has a flattish shape that should all pop out, you can hardly see any damage at all. The only damage to driver is my confidence took a bit of a knock and all though with the help of Jase(H2O), we had the Toy; on the start line for the second round my heart wasn't in it and I pulled the pin after three stages. Before Al's birthday trip I did something I had been putting off for ages, I made up (with the help of the boys at work) and fitted a four point roll bar, this saved me and the Toy; from any damage, there is a slight crease in the roof paneling that shows me how much the roof would have come down with out it, all in all I got off very lightly. A big thank you to Shane for asking me If I was OK about the video before posting and for taking the video cheers.

And Mike remember that some of the things we did on your truck were a bodge to get it to the start (and finish) line so they'll need sorting properly when someones got more time. I've heard Turoa and Mroffroader are fairly good with Rovers
