SMOKEY wrote:Hi Skid, if you are suspicious of the tank/fuel filter, get a 4lt; container a length of fuel hose and connect it straight to the lift pump, the return will still use the original system. I am not that familiar with the 80 series injector pump or fuel system but it is not that uncommon to have fine gauze filters fitted inside fuel line banjo bolts and where the fuel line enters the injector pump. If I get time tomorrow I will give my Diesel Pump service man a call. There won't be to much wrong with it,

IT'S A TOYOTA,

FITZY.

cheers fitzy

forgive my lack of mech skills, but is the lift pump you refer to, the internal pump in the tank :?: :?: :?:

it actually ran sweet as, for my flatmate today after I had blasted the fuel line back to the tank.

So once the weather calms down and the rain isn't coming thru the carport sideways, we are gonna pull out the shit in the back and roll back carpet and go in from the top to see if theres shit in the tank or anything.

at the moment its still being used as the flatties shitty holden( some folks never learn) is still puckered.

seeing as how I have a company car, once the 80 is not needed it will be dealt to to determine the problem among other things

thanks again

There's a slight confusion in terminology in the thread skid,

What has been referred to as the Lift Pump in the thread, is in fact just the primer pump, which is for manualy priming the fuel line from the tank to the filter plus the filter after it has been changed.

A lift pump is a pump that is used on some heavy diesels to lift the fuel from the tank to the injector pump, while the engine is running. This is because the distance between the injector pump and the tank is such that it is not possible for the injector pump to do all the work by itself.

The 80 series does not require a lift pump. All that is in tank will be possibly a fine gauze filter on the end of the pick up :D

yeah and I'm picking/hoping that the gauze filter is toast or missing or floating around the tank

fingers crossed
