seems odd that i could get hot and cold out of both sides tho?

and the blower motor doesnt work at all on any settings or is that linked to the blenders?

Sometimes the system shuts down the motor because of too much travel to protect the system. As blendors are not indicating to the motors (yes there are three of them) and they keep spining, the system kind of shuts down (as I believe). If you are getting these codes, then it is looking like blendoors. Here is the kit that I got:

The Dual Control (ndr) Blend Doors - http://www.blendorstore.com/products/dual_control_blend_doors

Very nice guy, very prompt. It was daunting first, but mine has been like this for over 10 months now. Working great.

Your codes are:

52 = AI (Recirc) door travel range too large. This is the code that indicates a recirculation door problem.

54 = Left temperature door travel too large. This is the code that indicates the driver’s side blend door problem.

56 = Right temperature door travel to large. This is the code that indicates the passenger’s side blend door problem.

No problem, its a Jeep thing.

BTW, here are all the codes for WJs: http://www.wjjeeps.com/climate.htm

I did a lot of research and found the kit I got to be most recommended. Its a bit daunting, but as long as you follow the instructions and use a light hand it works brilliantly. I spend a couple of hundred, which probably would have cost a couple thousand at the dealer to remove the dash and do it that way. Cut up ugly patch is so hidden, it doesn't bother me.

Just change the filter tomorrow, no oil comes out when you take the filter off by itself (unless the engine is running  )

It might not be the timing chain. In theory, this engine is supposed to be on 5W-30 but the previous owners may not have used it. Its not that commonly available in non-synthetic variety.

oh yeah mint

hmm he had it "serviced" at oil changers so woulda just had 15-40 at a guess

ive put case no1 engine oil init for the mo as that was easy to get out of the drum i usually use castrol magnatec in my cars

so would changing to 5-30 shut it up?????

Just be careful with the transfer case (NV247), it takes a special transfer case fluid specifically for it (unlike other Jeep transfer cases in TJ and XJ which are happy with any ATF).

Same goes for power steering fluid, Mopar has a special blend.

Diffs are okay with anything 75-140W or 85-140W.

nuts i always thought transfercases used gear oil lol

will look at doing the diffs and trans at some stage soon as they are a little noisey at 80-100ks

Timing chain normally says to check at 400k miles (yep, miles). Not likely the issue. It has hydraulic end-pivot roller rockers.

You can try changing to proper viscosity oil on next change and see if that helps with the noise. Is the noise at start-up and then it goes away or it still is there when warmed-up.

On TJs, transfer case NP231 takes normal ATF+4 just like the automatic transmission. Its a part-time 4wd transfer case. But on WJ/WG, NV247 has a special fluid for the AWD mode to work properly. I'll try to dig up Mopar part number for you tomorrow. I probably have a bottle of it somewhere in the garage. Found it, its Mopar part number 05016796AB

Trans take ATF+4 (has to meet Mopar specs). I have stuck with Mopar ATF+4, its not too expensive. I believe transmission has two filters inside. You can order the service kit from http://www.rockauto.com for cheap. Wix is good brand.

Power steering uses Mopar part number 04883077 Hydraulic fluid / Power steering fluid (MS5931).

For the diffs, just use any good quality 75W-140 diff fluid front and back. You have LSDs front and back, so if the fluid doesn't already have the LSD additive, you will have to add it.

It should have two grease nipples on the front ball joints (one each side). All other components are non-greasable.

No problem.

Took my wife's WG for a drive today and gave it a Ferrari tune-up...... Her commute is not long enough to warm up things properly, so I occasionally give it a bit of noise to keep things working. I think it can do with a more open muffler though

Gday how is this thing treating you... Have you had it in the rough stuff yet? I saw it on trademe but was in Aussie at the time so couldn't view/buy, i think I've seen her around the Waikato though.
Interested to hear opinions/experiences as I will probably buy one in July if i can pick one up for a good price, always had a soft spot for these.

Which blendor fix kit did you use? Its a simple fix once you can access those damn design features. :)

waiting to hear back from a dude about some new headlights as i doubt mine will pass a wof in thier current state.

will prob need to rebuild the front driveshaft as i think thats my problem for the whine acc to 100ks, maybe just needs cv replacing?

im hopin to take it in for a wof on sat but if lights dont turn up i wont be takin it
