3L Head on 2lte Block

Post by eejay99 »

Hi Guys,

Got the head off the Surf, showing some corrosion damage and cracks through the valve stems surprise surprise...

I am looking at putting a 3L head onto the 2lte block, does anyone know of any pitfalls or things I will need to watch out for, or take into account in my budget?

I.e Are timing belts, drive belts, gaskets interchangeable between the 2lte and 3L? Or do I need a new setup

The replacement head I am looking at getting is fitted with camshaft, valves and precups. The 'Auto Parts Distributors' one from Auckland off Trademe.

Cheers team, you guys are always helpful!

http://www.toyotasurf.asn.au/forum/ has all the answers.

he will bolt straight on, need to change the exhaust studs around a bit.
only thing was which headgasket. i think some mod the head gaskets to help with cooling of the head.
