That article isn't about "4wding", it's about retards not knowing how to drive a 4wd on-road.

The claim about them starting off faster sounds a little ridiculous and the article is very low on substance.

DRIVERS of 4WD vehicles take off faster and wait until the last minute to brake, posing more of a risk to road users than motorists in equally-powerful sedan cars, a safety expert has found.
Queensland University Associate Professor Andry Rakotonirainy has received a grant from the Australian Research Council to develop an in-car device to moderate this behaviour by alerting drivers when their driving is unsafe or too fast.
"When you drive a 4WD you're starting up high and that means you have a better vision of what's going on on the road," he said.
"You might feel safer and maybe more daring."
He warned 4WD owners to "be aware" they are driving differently and of the consequences.

sometimes you need to move off fast as its a big slow beast , in city traffic you just slow thing up moving off slow

i dont think i could get my surf to move quickly if i tried. nothing like the boyracers launching their 4wds away from the lights anyway!! might get a good launch if i put it into low low

a 4.2 diesel has a lot of touque to move it from the lights
