"In a 4WD, when you're involved in a crash you're more likely to kill the other people in other cars because you're bigger, you're higher, you might have a bulbar," he said.
Better them than me I say
"You might feel safer and maybe more daring."
Lots of mights and Maybe's...........Whats that sound? ....... Thats the sound of somebody interviewing their keyboard to justify their grant money.
With crap reporting like this they may get a job at the Dom Post

Re: Aussie Uni's view on 4wding
That article isn't about "4wding", it's about retards not knowing how to drive a 4wd on-road.
The claim about them starting off faster sounds a little ridiculous and the article is very low on substance.

4WD drivers 'more of road risk'
Article from: The Advertiser
June 11, 2008 12:30am
DRIVERS of 4WD vehicles take off faster and wait until the last minute to brake, posing more of a risk to road users than motorists in equally-powerful sedan cars, a safety expert has found.
Queensland University Associate Professor Andry Rakotonirainy has received a grant from the Australian Research Council to develop an in-car device to moderate this behaviour by alerting drivers when their driving is unsafe or too fast.
"When you drive a 4WD you're starting up high and that means you have a better vision of what's going on on the road," he said.
"You might feel safer and maybe more daring."
He warned 4WD owners to "be aware" they are driving differently and of the consequences.
"In a 4WD, when you're involved in a crash you're more likely to kill the other people in other cars because you're bigger, you're higher, you might have a bulbar," he said.
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.
Re: Aussie Uni's view on 4wding
sometimes you need to move off fast as its a big slow beast , in city traffic you just slow thing up moving off slow
Re: Aussie Uni's view on 4wding
