to get more flex??

Post by J_Dub »

just went up to local subdivision in progress (lots a dirt and banks) to flex me truck to see where im getting guard rub, (as last time a went out i put some nasty cuts in me tyres) so i can get out me hammer and file out and fix. Quite suprised in the flex considering its standard 23 year old gear, it was flexing to the point where the brake lines were at full extent, and all wheels were still firmly on ground.. 500 mm i rekon, so far
Ive removed front bumper valance and corner brackets, and smoothed out the seam at the bottom rear of front guard, so thats all sharp points taken care of.. now i need extended brake lines..
who do i go to? who can give me best deal? is there another brake line off another truck thats longer that will fit straight up?
need to do this right away, so if someone can let me know i will put money thru next week..
also how many of you guys have cut off/removed your ties in the leaves on your road legal truck? no probs with them seating right at rest? and no probs with the w.o.f man?

cut the brake line mounts off your chassis in the front and weld them on lower down, that way you can keep your existing lines. just remove brake lines before cutting and welding them. you'll an at least 50mm of length doing this, just stretch out the coils in the hard line a bit to reach

yip can see how that would work but, think in the long run ide want or need more than 50mm, have you removed the ties on your leaves?

on my old IFS surf I opened up the rear ties so they were pointing straight up, still located the springs on compression but allowed them to open a fair on extension.
I have all the ties fitted on springs in current surf, Coon rear and hilux rears up front and it flexs fine.

Any Brake and Clutch outfit should be able to make up new hoses for you. Just take in your old ones and tell them how much longer you need the new ones. Cost me under $200 for all 3 hoses 100mm longer than factory from memory. Dropped off old ones, new ones ready 2 hours later.

Fark smurf you got riped they do know how to charge up in nelson

I got 3 lines made up for my old crawler and they were 800mm long and had the metal spring arround them and they cost me $90

Also I had bog standard rears up front and coons in the back and could get 1200mm under a rear wheel with three still touching

well I redrill my coons to about 175mm , weld the hanger onto the chassie rail and space down the shackel hanger on the back , also I run a 4 to 5 leaf pack and pull out the retainer clips to let the coons move alot more , also my shocks are quite steep to let them move more , when you choose your coon packs you need to get the ones out of a ute or a pannel van if you dont the car springs just cant handle it.

as long as its speights , just rember coons work better with rears in the front and I would not pay any more than $60 for a set of coons
