Hilux Turbo options

Post by shroom »

Hey all..

Ive just rebuilt my 2LT (i know, shoulda ditched it and repowered) and am in the process of finding a new turbo.
I would like to know what options there are out there to either rebuild my current one(s) or replace it with something different. Possibly from a newer 2LT...I have discovered that the exhaust manifolds are not the same between models, so I cannot mount a newer one on my old manifold.
Does anyone know of anybody who offers services to either make custom manifolds (or sells them) to fit a newer CT20 onto a roller rocker type head? I can get a 'brand new' turbo from trademe for $300..
Alternatively, a rebuild kit for my current one, but I have been told also, that an aftermarket exhaust manifold will help reduce engine temporatures, so I am still not ruling that out..

Any information or offers etc is much appreciated.

TIA
Andrew

i thought the turbo flanges are the same but the head flanges are different between 2lt(1)(roller rockers) and 2lt(2)(shim).

imho rebuilt your old one but 'hifow' it. i tihnk they often fit a bigger compressor. there is a big drop in temps as well as more power.

the bolt pattern is the same on the exhaust flange i think, but it doesnt have the same pattern on the exhaust ports on the head.
I wonder if it is possible to use a newer compressor with an old exhaust housing?

id say not to use the rocker roller engine. i broke a gudgeon pin in mine. put a bucket and shim engine and its massive.
also put a bigger exhaust on if you are going to turbo it, helps get rid of engine temps

I have adapter designs to fit a normal turbo (T25, T3 etc) onto a CT20 manifold.

Here's a CT26 version of the same concept.
