well got the radiator all sorted today and tryed it out with the garden hose presure and found a slight problem, there was a slight leak on the left hand side of the block. also the water that went into the water pump didnt come out much on the outflow pipe. so makes me think it is blocked somewhere in the motor. or its got a blown head gasket. although i know nothing about motors really so any help would be good thanks. got a pic of where the water is leaking from.

hey martin,thats a frost plug by the looks of that pic,replaceable component,common thing to go on a few vechiles,never had to buy them though so yeh,guess repso would sell them,that or just take it to a mechanic

oh and better reply to the 2nd half of question ,thermostat is on the infeed line so you need to disconnect the top radiator hose and fill it till it over flows and then attach to top of rad,then fill rad as normal,then run motor untill warm with cap off and heater on full,leave it running while warm for about 5mins,top up if required and then put on cap,and that should be it,while motor is running and rad is full lookk for bubbles,if theres bubbles it means the head gasket is gone,also if the water is continuily flowing it means the thermostat is jemmed open,hope that helps somewhat

hey thanks for the info. if i take both radiator hoses off the motor and put the garden hose with a rag wraped around it so it lets the presure get up, it only trickles out the outflow pipe, surely the water should come out the other side as fast as it goes in? thanks.

Frost Plug, repco sell them, unless its a odd size

technically not cos theres your thermostat in there which should be closed,therefor not letting any water through,the small amount your getting is becos the thermostat has a little rattly thing in it (cant remember the name) and that lets just the smallest amount through,just follow above directions and thatl have the truck water system sorted

Another common way to bleed up the toyotas is to remove the heater water pipe 's (highest point usually on the firewall) fill the system through one till you get water coming out the other side of the valve (this does the engine) then start the car and run like above till hot. This should reduce the number of air pockets in the engine to ones that will move with water pressure.

As for the frost plug already covered above.

hey thanks for the info guys its much apreciated, i have no heater nor can i run the engine at the moment as its not all setup (lpg) but when i get it all sorted i know what to do. thanks
