How to remove 80 series yellow fog lamps

Post by skid »

For all you 80 series Landcruiser owners out there who have those ugly yellow fog lamps set further in than your main headlights.

They have always annoyed me and now that all my lights are out, I decided to see how easy it was to remove the yellow part as I'd heard it wasn't too hard.

So these are the lights I'm talking about..................

once you have your headlight out, or you could actually do it in place if you wanted.......

remove the 2 phillips screws......

you will then have an assembly for the bulb that has a yellow lens globe around it, that cannot be removed........
Image

place both yellow globes inside a rag............
Image

fold the rag up so both globes are trapped inside and then carefully smash them with a small hammer
Image

open up the rag and you may have to use some long nosed pliers to extract the remaining bits of glass from the assembly........
Image

then you will be left with an assembly with no yellow globe anymore.........

All thats left to do is put the assmebly back into the light housing using the 2 phillips screws and then replace the bulb or go buy a new one in the sweet blue colour and you no longer have yellow fog lamps.

dunno, will have a look when back in shed

only light that had water in that I saw was an indicator, but I suspect others did get wet, coz some of them blew once in the water, but all dryed out now.
