Winch wire or rope?

Thinking of changing the winch wire to the 8mm Dynex rope.I like the look of wire when it comes to strength but the rope is just as strong rated at min breaking load 6700kg or 6000kg at splice and lighter than wire.Who can i get to splice it onto my hook in west auckland? Any ideas?
