FJ40 wrecking
Just when I got it to the stage I was pretty happy with it - flopped the old girl on her side - a pretty minor roll, but the insurance will pay out as a write-off, but will de-register the truck, so now will be stripped for parts:
Very sweet running 2F, burns no oil, and pulls harder than an Aussie after a Wallabies win (but much more often!) Extractors running a short pipe to exit behind the passenger door. 5 speed gearbox from a 60 series, with 60 series full floater rear axle setup and lockrite lokka. Lifted 60 series springs front and rear to give about 140mm extended wheelbase and room for 35in tyres with a little rubbing. 60 series power steering from steering wheel to pitman arm. Front disk brakes and LSD in front. PTO winch with forward/reverse selector so it can winch in or out in any gear. I also have a complete spare 2F motor in unknown condition, and an assortment of other bits & pieces including a spare canopy from an earlier model, so could get it roadworthy again but would need re-vinning and new rego. Starting to develop some rust issues in the tub, so not worth the effort for a mug like me with no welding/fabrication skills.
Bits will be on TM soon, but if interested in any specific bits (or the whole thing), let me know...
This truck has done a few winch challenges (Marlborough twice plus Hanmer 2008) and the last two Reefton Challenges. From the Marlborough 4WD Club was 2nd only to Sav's V8 Jeep on the articulation ramp, and that means beating several pretty serious winch challenge trucks...

Re: FJ40 wrecking
Sounds to good to wreck.
How much you want for the hole lot(not that Ive got a lot of money just wondering)

Re: FJ40 wrecking
$4000 with all the spare bits - that would include the spare roof & sides, a spare front axle housing with open diff, extra (rough) front guards, an assortment of springs & leaves & shackles, and the spare motor, but would be on a set of old rims & tyres. Also quite a few bits lying around the garage like carbs, clutch, flywheel, and I think a couple of rear hubs. Driveable, but obviously not road legal. Although it is wired for an A-frame which I'd loan out but want back. I'll try to work out how to post some pics tomorrow, but have to get back to work so may take a few days...

Now listed on TM http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =262838202
Last chance to take the whole thing complete...
It looks like the 5 speed gearbox may be the first thing to go...
Lots of miscellaneous parts too if anyone is after glass, 2F motor parts, etc...
The motor has had reconditioned head and new rings/big end bearings. Runs VERY smooth and heaps of torque with the extractors on it...

$900 and it's yours... The nugget was originally from the front, so not a lot of wear. Tolerances were really good when I fitted the lockrite, and I have had no problems with it. It's had several oil changes whenever water got in there. Oil seals done about a year ago. Brake shoes are getting a bit thin, but no other known problems with it. I think I've got a set of half worn ones I can throw in. Complete with handbrake cable.
Re: FJ40 wrecking
Just the diff head $150, or with the complete 60 series rear end $500. If there's not too much hurry, I'll probably be down to Christchurch again in a month or so. Although the ORE Courier service may be more efficient...
Re: FJ40 wrecking
Hi would you sell just the rear diff housing? (No diff head or locker)
Didn't barbie drive a jeep??

Full floater
Re: FJ40 wrecking
The poor old girl is pretty much stripped now and quite as few listings on trademe. The chassis is pretty much rust-free, but the body is pretty rooted. I haven't removed any of the intrument panel / guages, etc either. If anyone wants any of the remaining bits, you can have them for nothing as long as there's not too much time & effort required. Bash plates? 2F engine parts? Engine mounts? Gearbox crossmember? I'd rather see them used than go to scrap... Don't wait too long though, as it'll be off to the scrap yard in about a week...
There's also a 70 series windscreen in a rusty frame, but with a couple of chips in it (not in front of the driver so probably OK for a repair)

No worries - I thought you might...
