OD off light flashing KZJ95 Prado
OD off light flashing KZJ95 Prado
Hi. Earlier today I came down the mountain after skiing, I had the trans in 2nd with the overdrive switched off and was on over run mostly all the way down. when I got to the bottom I put it into drive and switched the O/D back to on then the light started flashing and trans was doing strange things, I turn O/D to of and then back to on a few times and still the same thing. Then I pulled up, switched motor off for 30 secs then started up and drove home all normally. Any one experienced this before? My truck has 89,000 km on clock, trans oil is clean and on the correct level on dip stick

Re: OD off light flashing KZJ95 Prado
The flashing OD light is a warning the ECU has detected a fault in the auto.
You could have over heated her and its gone into limp home mode.
EDIT: Have a look at this website http://www.autoshop101.com/autoshop15.html
Look at the articles further down the page, they tell you how Toyota operate its auto's.
I have had the od light flash when one of my solenoids wires were damaged on a trip and the auto went into limp home mode.
Turning it off and on again has reset it.
If it keeps doing it, a solenoid in the auto may be failing.

May be a fault with the gearbox if it comes up again....the A/T Oil Temp light comes up if the transmission gets too hot

No I didnt have the 2nd button engaged. Think I might get it looked at on Monday before I go up and down the mountain again. Dont want it to destroy itself,
