Sorry if this is in the wrong section.

Just a couple of questions about my old truck.
1- Is there a way to improve the standard headlights on it Bulbs etc or are they a sealed beam?? Guess i have never taken any notice.
2- What would my options be regarding the steering box on the old horse. It is getting to the stage where it is getting abit dangerous at higher speeds. (wanders round a bit) Can these things be reconditioned.

The old horse is an 81 LWB

-You can put new lens in that take a high wattage bulb.

-The steering boxes themselves dont normally wear out but the steering idler up front does along with all the steering joints and steering damper.
These parts when worn make thof 40s handle like crap, i would be replacing these items first before touching the steering box.

No idea where they come from but these semi sealed units make a big difference to night driving and look pretty bling too with the halo parkers

I was just looking at some of those on ebay in aussie they look the same anyway. Just compadible with H4 Globes and the led ring does look rather snazzy. They can come with HID kits would that be the go for the old horse or would it melt things up. Would a 40 series handle hid's?? Its just a farm hack so no worries with wof's or anything just want more light. Are those hid kits a pencil beam though as i would rather a bright spread beam

Beam pattern is hit and miss when you put an HID lamp in a reflector/lens combo made for a halogen lamp. Which is why they're illegal for use on the road. But if it's a farm hack then go for it. Don't worry about heat, the HID lamps produce less heat than standard globes for more light output.

Righto i'll keep looking into it. Another thing i just thought of was my lack of music cruising round i have a stereo but no antenna/aerial. Have you guys got any tricks or suggest any ways to get good reception. Suggestions for a good aerial. I was reading somewhere on the web about guys using UHF/VHF whips/antennas for there FM stereos does this work?? Or would you not achieve any more than a normal everyday run of the mill aerial. Where i am radio reception is pretty average at the best of times
