Hey guys
Just bought a new motor for my truck.
Its another 2lte but i noticed while we were pulling it out that it has what looks to be an electric injector pump.
What I want to know is can I take the mechanical pump off my old motor and bolt it straight on?
Cheers
Caleb

Re: 2LTE Injector pump query
if your old engine was a 2L-te it also would have an electric pump, unless it was swapped, then yes you could swap it..
5L+GT35@21psi= 223RWHP
5L+GT35@30+psi= 287RWHP....
Great tow Vehicle!

Re: 2LTE Injector pump query
This is not exactly going to answer your query
but you say you have bought another 2LTE
, if your first on was a 2LTE it would have had an electronic pump. The "2L" is the series of engine, the "T" is for turbo and the "E" is for EFI ( Electronic Fuel Injection ), now I know the 1KZ guys fit a standard well modified pump from a 2.8 to get around the computer issues.
MAY BE WE WILL GET MORE INPUT,

Yea i was quite confused with it. Both the 2lte motors are out of 90 surfs. The one on the old motor was smaller (slightly) and doesnt have any plugs going to it, the new one has heaps of plugs that go into it. So I can only assume one is electric the other is mechanical.
I would prefer to put the mechanical one on as I want to get rid of as much wiring as possible.

Re: 2LTE Injector pump query
Ok have now actually checked the motors out together. While they look almost identical the new motor needs an altinator (which I have from the old motor but its twice the size
and doesnt fit on.
How much of the 2 motors will be interchangeable? I would prefer to put everything mechanical onto the new motor so there is less wiring.
Would also like to use the bigger altinator.

Re: 2LTE Injector pump query
sounds like your old one was a 2lt. 1990 is about the end of 2lt and the start of the 2lt-e.
you will need to swap the brackets over, if i remember right that bracket is also the engine mount.

Re: 2LTE Injector pump query
Thats what im starting to think. Its got on the firewall 2lte so it must have been replaced.
The engine mounts are identical on both motors as far as I can tell but it does looks like I will have to try unbolt one altinator bracket and swap them over.
Fingers crossed it will work. It already looks like I have to replace the cambelt just to change the injector pump over
oh well such is life.
