removing factory e-locker diff head in hilux

hi ive got a yn105r with a factory e-locker diff. the diff lock has stopped working and the seal leaks so ive tryed to pull the diff head out.
ive got it head loose but it wont come out?
i have been doin sum reading and if the the locker is not engauged the diff head will not come out, is this correct?
also the other reason i thourght that it may not come out is because the steel studs that hold the diff head in are longer on the side of the head that has the locker motor on,the locker motor i think has sum alloy parts on it that the studs run through and i think they have seized together? is this feasable that this could have happened? any tricks to freeing these to metals?

any idea would help

Hi Ben,
I assume you've pulled the axles out :lol:

Try a trolley jack under the diff head..... be careful, put some weight on the flange and give it a hammer :mrgreen:

yeah axles sitting in deck so should no be holding head, haha

was goin to try sum force but wanted to check about the locker engauge first?

Locker engauge is more about getting it back together. Think you will find you need to engauge it to get the axles back in right

They are a tight fit....
If you don't remove it straight it will bind on the long studs...
And also the locking system will catch on the diff housing.

No need to lock it to install drive axles.....

Locker needs to be in the locked position before removeing.

From memory the locking ring gets in the way when its unlocked...

I retro fitted mine into a std axle housing and made the cutout slightly larger.

But its been a while since I pulled the diff head. :mrgreen:

I find if I get a lever in on locker side and give the pinion a turn you will feel the best position, I find the bolts on the crown wheel can hit the housing. is it a little way off or still up tight on the housing?
