Getting Pinion Seal Out

Post by 3VILC »

Rite its time to do the front axle seals on the lux. So before I start, to get the pinion seal out, can it just be "persuaded" out with basic garage tools like the inner axle seals, or will I need to get a small gear puller first?

Yup sure can, never used a gear puller on mine.
The companion flange just slides off..
Just make a note where the nut goes and put it back in the same spot....

Sweet, have done a few inner axle seals when I had my safari but never had to do a pinion seal. Shouldn't be too bad then. Can't believe the price differences. Toyota wanted $30 PER SEAL! I got all 3 and a pack of lithium grease from BNT for $25 all up. And you almost wouldnt be suprised if they originate from the same factory
