Can't engage low ratio- 92 Prado

Post by hunton »

Does anyone have any ideas about what would cause the high/low ratio lever to be stuck in high ratio. The electric H4 is working fine, just can't budge the transfer box lever. The wagon was sitting unused for 6 to 8 months???
Thanks,
John

Probably the linkages under the truck dirty / fused....Get out the WD40.
Or the ball and springs used as detents in the transfer box could have rusted in place. The lever moves a shaft ....via a finger...

Have a quick look at the oil in the transfer case make sure it is just oil and not full of water, might be some ugly things going on if no good oil and sitting that long

The wagon is manual and the lever won't move in nuetral. I will check the linkages, oil etc and let you know.
Thanks for the info,
John
