ideas for crap speedo?

Post by jakwoo39 »

just got my truck going, and the speedo is working but it is about 25ks out, so when i was following other cars in a 60k zone it was showing about 35ks
i have put in a new cable (old one snapped)
and new drive gear (old one missing teeth)

but when i put the new diff ratio in and the 35's on its miles out

has anybody got any ideas to fix

Yep pull the plastic cover off the speedo and black out the numbers and take it for a run with a GPS and relabel the numbers at the right places :D

You want something like this...
http://www.marks4wd.com/products/tyre_m ... ction.html
I am sure there are places in NZ who do them...
Basically is a little gear box which changes the ratio to correct the error.
Use a GPS to see how far you are out...

My Jeep does the same after bigger tires and a mega short Slip yoke eliminator, at the moment I run GPS off my phone, I'm doing 100 km/hr when Jeep speedo says 75km/hr, will be getting a truspeed calibration box from summit racing in the US when all the planets align correctly. (Read $$$$$$ + ok from Wife(bank manager))

Yea, though I drive through the valley of death (and it's mudbogs), I shall fear no trail;for tho art modified is my rig, and thy lift kit and lockers they comfort me. Amen

dont think you will be getting a warrant. especialy as a diesel. im with sadam, kiss, keep it simple stupid. but then again as a diesel maybe not as odometer will still be out. so i think I would be puting a series of dots on. 50, 70, 100 and leave it as is. odo will save you money and wof man have no reason to think its inaccurate or care.
