Down load an Engine manual and put it in diagnostic mode....
Its an OBD1 so pretty basic...
Jump pins TE1 and E1, turn on but don't start engine and read the flashes.

Also what have you been playing with ????
And is there any obvious problem....

hi people. it seems my one is bit strange. the speedo is working all the time. i can not feel any change to the performance of my prado.

i did connect Te1 to E1 but nothing changed. i mean, when i turn the key on after connect TE1 to E1, the light stil flash as usual and tried few more times with no difference.

when one month ago, i removed the speedo cluster when i was installing my DVD player. i forget to plug the cable for the speedo behind and drove for two days. and there was obviously no speed. but that did not triger a flash check light.

And i forget to mention, akl being raining pretty heavy last week. and that could be the indirect reason. this morning, the sun come up and i took it for a drive, it suddently become normal...no flash, no nothing. sweet. after a while, it come back. and off again. and flash again.........

i will look into the wires around the gearbox this week and show some pics if i found the problem.

It will still flash but should be in a code.... series of flashes then a pause...the engine manual explains what the code is.
It also tells you how the clear the codes....And if you get more you know you have a problem....

Here is a link to some manuals on the net....

Have fun......

The flashing OD off light suggests an issue with your auto .....you can put the auto into diagnostics mode in a similar way to how you put the engine in.
Connect together terminals W & E1
If normal light will flash 2 times per second.
I have a document on it so PM me if you want more info ...way too much to type here.

I did tried to connect TE1 to E1 and the light stay the same, 1 flash in 1/4sec with no pause. but i did not connect the W to Te1,so is could be a transmission problem. but why the engine check light is triggered. i notice every time the lights off and on to flash together.

forgive me for too busy to check it out. i will do this asap..... thanks fallows anyway...
