hey there i currently have a 92 suzuki escudo 4wd swb, with the 1600 16v g16a engin, i have put a calmini 3 inch suspension lift in and a 3inch body lift, my problem starts with the strange dostroying of my front diff, under not too bad conditions and both cvs are destroyed, i was wondering if anyone had a option for a steel grand vitara diff that would swap into my truck. and how much of a hassel this is to do, and what cvs i would end up with and i hear there is a way to have the same cvs on both sides also i hear there is a kit to convert to toyota cvs has anyone done this help please
tempted to get the anvil off calmini but unsure what else is required and where to sorce help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These might help , I've got a set on V6 (diff type to the 1600 ) after a 1" body lift, 3" suspension.

I know that a steel diff is about $1400 last time I found one for sale. and yea there are kits for having the same cv's on both sides, cant remember where I found them though. will have a look around

Does the Calmini kit have spacers to drop your diffs? Could be too much angle in the CVs

I was lucky and got my steel diff for $650.
Lincooln it would be great if ya can remember where to get the kit for having the left axle on the right side as well.

Drop the diff lower with spacers.

Tried to find it but no luck so far.

Did u have any other issues with your kit? As I have done the same with my escudo and while i havent broken any diffs or cvs ( although they at on quite a steep angel even with the diff drop brackets) I have had trouble getting the camber correct ( too negative) even with the calmini camber bolts didnt make a difference. Also hard getting the wheel alignment straight and only the back of the left front tyre rubs on the chassis the rights fine. Another thing is the holes for mounting the sway bar back on to the calmini control arms ar 150 mm shorter than the factory sway bar.

Interested to see if u have had any of these issues as its left me a bit head scratching after I have followed all there instruction details 31s off set rims ect

You might need to file a bit of the knuckle to get the camber bolts working properly. There is a clash between the knuckle and the strut around the back of the top bolt hole, file it out with a half round file and this night fix your problem. Watch your cv's now though.

if your after a standard diff i have one in wanganui. Whole front diff setup including axles hubs etc. PM me if interested

I've seen a thread where one was made. You LHS axle and cut the flange of the end of it and get a RHS cv, cut the cv off it and weld the flange to the cv. This thread might help http://auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=17&t=6953&start=90

hey there haven realy had anyother issus yet , but have only had it out wheeling about 3times b4 blowing diff, and now have only just replaced the diff(with factory alloy), the camber is a lil out but not too bad , have found i have absautly no drop left in the front struts sits hard maxd out (hopefully will get beter as springs relax) thinkin of buying some ome or ironman struts too go in aswell soon witch will give me 35mm extra travel, am also makeing a adaptor out of old busted cv and LH shaft into gearbox to adapt the righthand side of diff to take a left hand cv and widen it a bit, then pack out the lefthand side, its on the zuki page under mike hagens wideing mod, as for y my diff blew i still am out of idea, if defently didnt over drop, thinking now it may have been my auto locker hubs not locking in when rocking to get out,and then suddenly clicking in with a bang and transfering all the torque to my diff n mounts ect so now have put in sum avm manual lockers when did the new diff

yeah ive looked at them a few times, but u have to sorce your self a grand vitara 3rd member witch most wreckers want just as much for as the whole diff so not much point realy for a little more strenght at atleast twice the cost

hey ive had trouble with my diff aswell, was towing a mate out of a ditch next thing the diff head was completely snapped in two, my lift is the 3" suspension with 2" body but have diff drop brackets ect fitted with 31/10.5 coragias, so have just replaced the diff with the standard alloy housing ect will be interested to see if this one suffers the same fate.
