tyre wear help!!!

Post by jex_the_bug »

iv been trying to find the answer but failed. :(

my front tyres are wearing on the inside a lot more then i would like an expensive set of 35" too. i had the tracking done but it was nasty to drive (very wobbly) and still wearing the tyres.
so iv had a play with it myself. got it so the front have no toe in or out thinking this would be the best for less wear. it handles well but still wearing a lot. would it wear less with a little toe in or out??

probably easier to get to the cause if you post all the previous suspension modifications and handling problems as well :D

I would hazard a guess and say the camber is out.
If its a beam axle then there are offset pins for the swivel hub bearings.
$$$
Is the truck lifted....??
Castor could be out also...
A good alignment shop should be able to advise what is out...

Also tyre pressures can effect wear also.

Have you have moved the wheel settings, toe in etc.
If you have adjusted to toe out rather than toe in you can wear the inside edges.
By going Spring over have you altered the caster angles from factory settings?
Is your front diff bent giving too much positive camber?
A full wheel alignment will show you what your factory setting should be and where your current settings are. Probably your best starting point.

Get a wheel alignment, compare it to factory specs and work backwards from there.
