Where to get Leaf spring center pins?

Post by 3VILC »

Where would I get these from? I pressume I could just use high tensile machine screws, but believe the threads can't be inside the spring so you would need a bolt with exactly the right length shank. Or do I just go into Toyota and ask for genuine ones and prepare for a heart attack when they tell me the price? Or just use a bolt thats a pretty close match?

the last repair the i did i used machine/set screws
yes you are right about the shank depth and choose a screw with the right lenght and cut the thread down to suit
i think i got a mate to machine a dic to fit over the screw head as it was a bit small/loose fitting
if poss get them in zinc as this will help protect them in the long run otherwise just cover i grease and be done with it

Sweet thats easy then. Anyone know off hand or has some old springs laying around can check what size the bolt is? From memory I think it must be an M8 but not sure, just so I can get the right size before dismantling everything :) Going to do a bit of leaf swapping, but the rear center pins are so rusted I'm going to have to cut them (ie. the nut is almost round and non existant) so I put everything back together
