Wanting to swap, Sanden air con pump

Post by kiwipete »

Hello all, I have a Sanden SD709 air con pump suitable for endless air conversion that I would like to swap for a smaller SD508 pump please.

Space is an issue and I cannot fit the larger 709 in place where I want it to go.

The 709 unit has a twin V belt pulley clutch on it and I would like the same on the 508.

So if someone wants a larger air pump, please contact me.

And some pictures for those of you who like pictures

This is the SD709 that I have.

This is what I want to swap it for.

A Sanden SD7B10 that I will use in place of my factory air con unit, this one is much smaller. I want to retain the on board air con and to squeeze the air compressor between the factory air con and alternator means I have to downsize something. I cannot see an issue with using this smaller AC unit.

The three units side by side. SD709, SD7B10 and the Factory unit.

Any idea which vehicles were fitted with the 709 and 508 as a standard compressor Pete?

Hi Pete, not totally sure but I think the clutch pulley assembly should be swappable , unless the shaft taper is different. If you need to change we have a AC puller set at work. :( I won't tell you what I threw out at work about a month ago  ,

KEEP WORKING,

FITZY.

Rockhound and Tom

If I tell you I will have to kill you all

NZ new 90's Galant/Lancer had the 508 as did 83-85 Mazda 626's from what I have found; oh and some older European cars too.

I do not know what the 709 came in, if you find a 508 and want a 709, then I have one here for you.

Don't tell me, I might

Just a wee update, I think I may have found a Sanden SD7H15 air con pump.

Can anyone confirm if this may be suitable to modify like the SD508's?
