Hi All,

Just wondering I have a L/R 110 with a Nissan ED33 and 5 speed gearbox, but its getting noisy and I am wanting to get a spare box for it and recon if over winter. Does any body no what the model no#'s are or name of them. Any help would be appreciated.

If its a Rover box its probably a LT85

Is reverse next to first(i.e) hard left and up? if so look at the main casing of the box underneath and see if its either black or aluminium. this determines if its a LT77(which would probably last 5 mins behind a motor like that) or an LT85. If its an 85 you won't have much luck getting a spare, I had one behind a 6.2 Diesel in a 110 and they are thin on the ground here. I would just plan on rebuilding the box, order bearings and gasket set from the UK as NZ dealers seemed obsene in comparison. How bad is the noise? rumble in every gear except 4th? They are quite a noisy box even when new. Are you sure you have an ED33 and not an FD35?

ED33:
82-87 Nissan Cabstar MGH40 Civilian

You could have the Nissan commercial box too. Now alls you need is the Patrol axles!

Direct 4th gear coupling on those Rover LT boxes hence no noise in that gear.

Its deffiantly a five speed nissan with a weird contrapition to take the push pull system and change it into convential gearbox. Will try and get some photo's up of it today.

Sounds interesting, do you mean the gear shift linkages have been modded to go back into a standard gear lever on top? Be interesting to see how it's mated to a transfer box too. Might be easier to deal with getting a s/h box too being Nissan truck, although cabstars are a rare sight, even in truck wreckers.

I will try and attach a photo of the setup below, the transfer case is an LT230 its mated through an adaptor plate from mark's 4wd in aussie.
