Diff heads are interchangeable, the diff housing won't be.

only thing to watch is there is two main diffs. the weaker 2 spider often found in the 4 cyl petrol models and the stronger 4 spider found in the v6/turbo diesel models.

on the outside i have no idea.
pull it out and have a look

if its got a arb or similar locker i think the main difference is bearing size.
if its auto locker you can tell its for a two pinion or four.

From the outside the stronger diff head the V6 or Turbo has more ribs than the older 4 cyl
