Low revs at cold start

Every morning when I start my truck up the idle revs are very low, around 500rpm or less, this morning they were even lower because it was very cold. When starting truck up when warm it idles fine. What would be the cause of this and how would I fix it?
1hdt 80 series, manual.
Thanks.

wouldn't worry to much mate just happens most cars do it unless they have a automatic choke/idler. my safari does it too I always warm mine a bit before i go, your truck probably has a idler toggle or idle up switch just turn that a bit or press the switch till it warms up abit

There is a waxstat device on the side of the injector pump which should link to the control arm on top of the pump. When the engine is cold there should be a gap of about 3 to 4 mm between the control arm and the idle stop which gives a higher idle speed. I suspect your waxstat has either collapsed internally or is out of adjustment.

Is this what needs adjusting or needs removing completely?

The diaphragm unit in your pic is the vacuum operated idle-up device which should actuate when you switch the aircon on. The waxstat unit should be on the side of the injector pump underneath the diaphragm unit. Hard to tell from your pic if it has been removed or not. It should have 2 water pipes going to it. If it has been taken off and a plate put on then yes you are going to have this problem with a slow cold idle.

as he said above , there is a possibility if you have fucked with your fuel screw etc the idle up for the aircon needs adjusting to suit ,
