Toyota 2.8l Diesel Exhaust Mods???

Hi guys - when I bought my hilux i knew that the baffles in the muffler had come loose and i would need to get this fixed (approximately $75) to stop the annoying little rattling sound it makes when it gets to about 2000RPM.

What i want to know is has anyone done or heard of an exhaust mod to a standard 2.8 diesel that they found made an improvement in performance / economy or the like? Just interested as im going to get the muffler fixed but thought if the standard exhaust can be upgraded to get some performance tweak it might be worth doing the whole thing at once.

my hilux has a set of extractors on it from when i brought it. they were put on because the standard manifold had craked numerous times. ive had no troube with them so far and i guess they would also help keep the head slightly cooler as well.
