'91 Surf rear end wiring

Post by dazza85 »

All you guys that have hacked the back off your Surf
Where does the wiring loom run to the back lights, door etc.
Is it on the inside or the out side ??
Left or right ??
I'm fitting reversing sensors and want to tap into the feed to the reversing light.
I had a bit of a look under the truck and can't find anything so am guessing it is on the inside ...
As it looks like a bit of a mission to get the lining off I thought I would ask first.
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

I pulled apart the back of mine to hook up a trailer jack point - wired it into the lights.

All the plastics in the boot pull out no worries and then you can pull the lights out as well, without removing the light seels. Remove the beads and undo all the screws. The only tricky part is around the boot light at the top - a couple of extra screws here.

It feels a bit weird pulling it to bits, and it is a bit of a mission, but they are only plastic clip thingys and I didnt break anything. The wiring is all in the inside from memory.

hope this helps a little.
