1KZ-TE Check engine light

Post by Zorba »

Good day.

need help figuring out my prado KZJ-78W. when caught in traffic, or on prolonged idle, check engine light comes on and there's an odd vibration to the engine and the exhaust billows thick, black smoke on acceleration. this occasionally reverts to normal and light goes out after a while but more often, the light stays on and the odd vibration continues. if i shut off the engine for a few minutes and re-start, the problem goes away only to recur if there is prolonged idling.

has anyone else had this problem? i can't seem to figure out what the problem is... much less get it fixed...

thanks and happy holidays!

Z!

Get it checked by a pro mechanic asap. You might have huge blow-by around one or more pistons. The black smoke is from oil and unburned fuel because your compression is most likely bad. Go to a mechanic, today. M
