These guys seemed the best winches out of them all:

http://winch.com.cn/

I was looking at importing the

1> BSW-10000B: USD $285.00

2> WSW-9500LB: USD $220.00 ( USD 230.00 if with wireless remote control )

The top one was perferred. plus buying this mounting plate:

Didn't end up buying one due to the hassle of buying just a few plus freight plus the risks etc.

Ending up buying a Warn 8274 of a friend which was a bargain of the century lol.

Would definitely be keen on one for the zuk if you are going to order them.

I would be keen but timing is a big issue, I think I will pass on the first pallet but the second round would be keen.

This is extremely tempting at NZD 400 or so. I am just curious about the reliability (working when really needed). Can some mods be done to improve their reliability?

Also, which one are we talking about here 9500lbs or 12000lbs? I see the wire length is only 87 feet.

With over 12 people wanting to get one, i'm sure we can work out mods and advise one another.

Its 15 people now on the poll :D

Looks like I can take a punt with this and if it doesn't work then I'll have 15 other brains to pick to make it work :P :P

So with so many people interested, wouldn't the price come down a bit more (not trying to sound greedy here). Also, who is organising this?

Best would be to deposit an advance in a secure account (may be with ORE Association) to hold as security. This is in case an order of 20 is placed and all but 2 people vanish.

I am assuming its a standard low mount mounting pattern (I have ARB front winch bar). Don't want to modify the bar to fit the winch.

Good call who is doing it?

I can get a customs broker and place the order with greatwinch if a mod or assoc. member can take payments and confirm payment to me via email.

And once the magic 10 units is reached then I go and place and pay for the order and get everything shipped here to CHCH?

But of course the price is to be adjusted (ie refund sent or payment needed) once the winchs are landed.

But it should work out to just under $400 per winch + shipping to your destination.

If we go do this then I have a 7200lbs up for sale :?

---edit

the other thing you would want to think about it do we get 12v or 24v or a mix if we can... and insurance... do u get some marine cargo cover or take the risk with out it?

Actually, we would need to know who is definitely buying it, 9500 lbs or 12000 lbs, and 12v or 24v for each of those people who are definitely buying it.

I don't mind if the price that each buyer pays is averaged for all different variations for ease of calculation (it would only be a small difference between them) - i.e. total cost to get the order in divided by total orders gives the average price to be paid per order. Local freight would be additional.

The question who is willing to take the responsibility for ordering and money admin.

Actually a little disappointed I haven't heard back yet from Greatwinch. I send them an email nearly 24 hours ago and still no response.
In contrast, Runva had excellent communication, no more than a couple of hours between asking the question and getting the answer. And if I didn't answer I'd get a follow-up email from Runva to see everything was still OK.
Sounds like Minefield put an actual order in with Greatwinch and hasn't heard back yet.

I think the time has come for someone to stand up and say ,I will correlate the importing , Someone who may have had some experience in the import trade because if this dose not happen a few may band together but most will miss out . :(

When I started this thread I knew there would be someone out there with the experience, We need that person to put his name forward that way we all can PM him with our winch type and voltage name and address and email address that way when the time comes he can email us for the money

I think this is to good of an opportunity to let go

I have been talking to Mike about this and he has agreed that he is happy to set up the ORE shop with a few products for each winch and variation so that people can purchase what they want. And then we will put through a bulk order based on what people have ordered.

Swaney wrote:I can get a customs broker and place the order with greatwinch if a mod or assoc. member can take payments and confirm payment to me via email.

Excellent! You're the man then . What we need to do is confirm with the supplier that they are happy to accept a bulk MIXED order for (currently) 17 units. That will be the first step to ensure that it is going to be feasible, because I doubt that it will be if they have to be the same type.

I was interested in the hydraulic option, but after doing more digging I'm not sure if Yuyao Great Machinery & Electrical Co., the apparent manufacturer of the Great Winch brand (http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/g ... log-1.html or http://greatwinch.en.alibaba.com/group/0.html, Ltd), actually produce them. http://www.winch.com.cn/4WD.htm shows one at the bottom of the page (it looks like that is where Cloggy got his photo from), and they have a contact address of info@greatwinch.com, but I'm not sure if they are directly associated with the Great Winch manufacturer.

A whois on the winch.com.cn shows that it is registered to:
Registrant Organization: manor commercials
Registrant Name: Mr ricky hancox
Administrative Email: dave@nationdrive.com
Sponsoring Registrar: EasySpace Ltd.

Manor Commercials is a truck yard in UK. Easyspace Limited is a company registered in England and are Domain Name Registration and Web Hosting Service. The admin email of nationdrive.com is for a car delivery services company in the UK.

But the email address domain greatwinch.com (which is used on the winch.com.cn website) is registered in China, in the same city as Yuyao Great Machinery & Electrical Co.
Registrant Name ................. yue xu
Registrant Organization ......... yuyao
Registrant Address .............. yuyao jiangdu
Registrant City ................. yuyaoshi
Registrant Province/State ....... zhejiang
Registrant Postal Code .......... 315400
Registrant Country Code ......... CN
Registrant Phone Number ......... +86.057462711611 - 2
Registrant Fax .................. +86.057462711612 -
Registrant Email ................ manager@newacer.com

newacer.com (email address) is a website design company, also in Yuyao.

So what I'm trying to say is   that I'm not convinced that we should be dealing through winch.com.cn (info@greatwinch.com) as there are some strange circles, even through the UK, with nothing matching up other than the city.

I think we should contact the manufacturers first, Yuyao Great Machinery & Electrical Co., and see if we can go direct through them. I think the minimum order for that may be 20 units though. Even if we buy a few more and flick them off at cost it won't matter.

Thoughts? Have I just confused things by my suspicious nature? Has anyone had any dealings with these guys through info@greatwinch.com?

If there are any problems with minimum order can I suggest we then go to Runva. No minimum orders there.
Their winches are of similar price, perhaps better known, they do about 6 different hydraulic winches and they give excellent service.

Here's the site of the NZ importer - a lot easier to read: www.winch.co.nz

It has the NZ prices. They may be interested in a bulk deal to ORE. It would still cost more I guess than ORE importing for members but at least warranty issues would be easily sorted. I tried phoning them and left a message.

runva winches are fairly pricey $1050 for a 12,000lb and $850 for a 10,000lb

Yes those are the prices of the NZ dealer, but bought direct from the factory you can also land a 10000lbs winch for $400.00.

http://www.made-in-china.com/showroom/greatwinch (click Product List -> ELECTRIC WINCH - 4WD & TRUCK WINCH series for catalogue)

That's the best looking and most accurate source of info on the Great Winches manufacturers.

Swaney, can you perhaps contact them (if you don't mind, because you have offered to do so) and find out:
1. whether they are able to supply us a single bulk shipment of assorted units to suit peoples requirements once we get to the point of ordering
2. unit prices for the BSW12000 and BSW10000, both 12V and 24V, and
3. shipping costs for the bulk order, or
4. the actual landed cost of each unit
5 whether or not they do a hydraulic unit, and cost etc.

If you could also confirm what it is going to cost for a customs broker (which I have no idea what they do or what their purpose is).

Cloggy, can you please do the same with Runva seeing as you have been in contact with them before. The units of interest to me would be BEW12000, NHW12000, BHW12000 - 12V and 24V, but get some prices for the 10000 units as well.

I hope you don't mind my delegation of tasks, I'm just keen to see this get sorted out properly with minimum of fuss.

minefield, just saw your latest post as I was typing this. Good stuff, if you could keep us posted on the details that would be great. I assume that this is through the info@greatwinch.com guy?
