From what I gather, I think they are the same.

What bits are you thinking of ordering?

Same but watch the left and right hand drive if you order and steering stuff . Not sure if it swaps left to right , the 413 does not :(

Before ordering stuff from the states, check out Lovells springs and shocks. (Try Beaurepaires if you can't find another supplier, I know that here in Nelson they can source them) Cost-wise they are pretty reasonable, and quality-wise they run rings around the Kings etc. in my opinion.

Kings are great if you want to drive a rice-burner with no travel, and your behind scraping on the tarmac. Rearward-facing baseball cap included.

Thanks for the help, i may have found a supplier for the Lovel Springs - will give them a call early next week. My only hope is that they can figure out what i need over the phone - i guess this assumes they have done a suzuki escudo before.

Your Zuk looks very cool if thats the one in your profile - Do you have any problems with tyres rubbing on your guards at all, i see we are both running 31 x 10.5. Ive done the 2' body lift and i hope to do the right thing with the suspension, but im new to playing around with springs and shocks. I have already tried springs out of a 5 door and did a front shock flip flop, but feel its not realy cutting it.

Hey Dutch89, I really like the look of your truck and the way its come along since you posted pics when you first got it.

I did a 1" bodylift, the strut hat-flip and two-inch lift with coil spacers. I still have a little tyre-rub with the fronts just touching the rear of the front well at the lower footwell, and the rears catching on the sharp inner edge at the top of the rear wheel arch. Rear will be solved with another inch of body-lift, front may take a bit more engineering!

As soon as the funds are available I'm going to get the extra body-lift, the lovells springs and some softer-rate shocks in the rear.

With the heavy steel front bar, I've already sagged about an inch in the front, so slightly firmer springs in the front will be the go when I get them.

Hi

Did you fit the Snorkel yourself, i hope to have mine in a few weeks from Auto Bend in CH-CH. And Detroit locker is arriving this week.
Hope to slow down on spending money soon, im guessing that once i have the suspension and snorkel done im ok for a weee while!

And i think the Evil daughter has cool taste, yellow makes a bold statement.

Hi Hans

How much was your snorkel? I picked ours up from Falsgrave auto spares and a mate helped fit it, so I don't know where it was made, but I need two more for the new trucks. They are 8-valves, so its hard to find a factory unit.

Yeah, I like the yellow too. I can't hide though.

Auto Bend in Christchurch do a metal snorkel, they may even have your car model on the computer so it fits like a glove. They do them with a mandrel bender so they are very smart and only 145.00 (unpainted and no hat) I may try and get mine powder coated for about 20.00 bucks and i bought the hat off trade me. http://www.autobend.co.nz/

Still waiting on mine cos he has not done an Escudo yet.

Oxygen

Post by Dutch89 »

Gave the Zuk a wee test in the weekend, had a few problems with the Oxygen sensor loose or something - it kept cutting the power just when i needed it most. I hope this is not normal or that it happens again if i go play in the water.

Im going to try Springs from Chamberlain Suspension Ltd in Christchurch http://www.cobrasprings.co.nz/ - they seem to be a reasonable price, 450.00 for all four corners. And they have my Escudo specs on the computer so all should be good i hope - just need the shocks to match after i fit them.

Could try the hagen widening mod (moves wheel out about an inch and forward about an inch).

you need to keep your springs and shocks soft so it flexes good, limit the front and make the rear do the work and then you dont keep breaking shit, just remember you need to go to 5dr handbrake cables when you get the back moving as the 3dr arnt long enough for the movement you can get, and extend the diff breather,

put up some pics so we can see what it works like.

I like your toy Spanky.

Do you have a build file (break down of mods) to show how you get that much flex?

escudo 16valve

Post by Dutch89 »

Yes he is making one for my 16 valve. If it works ok i will try to work out a pattern for where to cut hole in side panel - but as i said its the first one he is making for an Escudo, but he makes lots for all makes and models so im confident it will be very accurate. One of his boys has to make one for a mate and then he will have the specs for ours also.

Will ask him to do it very soon because i want to play in the water soon.

thanks heath, just go in to suzuki and search cheap vitara lift, but is just falcon ea front springs that are shortened 2.25 coils in the front with the top mount turned over and the back is c33 laurel rear springs and vk commodore air shocks, front sway bar is gone and then longer hand brake cables from 5dr and extend the diff breather, it gives about 65-70mm of lift but keeps it very soft,

So nice and soft for flex rather than height (sounds like a recipe for a trials set up - How do you go in the Laurie Sansons?)

i didnt do a body lift as it gives me no real gains ,plus i would rather keep it low and stable for sidlings. heath i did one round of the laurie sansons and the jeep was sweet but i was the problem , it gets heaps of traction but i just cocked it up on a couple of hazards , need to pratice more.
