Anyone know where I can get a speedo recalibration step-down box from. And don't say the Speedo shop in Hamiltion, they won't do it unless I take the bloody wagon to their shop, probably so the sods can charge me a fortune for playing with it.
I just need a 1.06:1 step-down that'll fit a Pajero or one that can fit between two cables

I have run up a telephone bill to rival the national debt... OK that may be overstating it a bit
Anyhoo I found an outfit that will do the box and it will screw directly to the speedo cable output on the gearbox. A real simple fit job. $180 + GST I've ordered one and it will be about a week. I'll test run and take pics
And that is the last thing I need for the revinning! Woohoo!

Yo
The other place that would be able to help with this is Parrotts in chch
Parrott E & Son Ltd
360 St Asaph St Christchurch
0-3-366-9554
Facsimile 0-3-366-9554
They call themselves Auto Instrument specialists and are damned good. Been round since Adam was a cowboy.
This is where I get my pyros etc.

I know the unit works for Jeeps, Fords, GMs, Toyotas - don't know whether it works for Mitsis, but worth asking them. I am using this on mine and it give me the most accurate reading yet.
Also have a look at this:

This is similar to the unit above, but half the price.

Those are digital, mine is cable mechanical, so they're not a lot of use to me, but looking at the price of them I wish it was digital.

Thanks for that Johnno, I have to get one for my Niva as well. Gone from 175-75s to 215-80s and the difference is pretty big. So I'll try these guys and make a comparison.
Re: Speedo recalibration Shop
I took mine to my auto sparkie and he adjusted it an it cost about $90.
I dropped the truck off they drove it over timed KM and then reset the speedo and then timed it again. They then provided a cert for the engineer so that I could be legal with 35's.
That is with a Nissan but it isn't always cheaper to do it your self.

I think probably like most Nissans, you can do bloody near anything to them by plugging in a laptop, it's what makes them so easy to tune. However, unfortunately for me, the only solution is mechanical because my speedo is not electronic. It's simple check generally, just by checking with the back end of your gearbox: Is there a cable coming out or a wire. Most swapped somewhere in the nineties and mines a '92 model
Re: Speedo recalibration Shop
I got my adapter box from parrotts in Chrischurch, $250 all up, which included them doing a rolling road to check for it before and after

if you own a patrol there is a potentiometer in the top of the cluster thats alters your speedo .i used a gps to get 100kph then used a small screwdriver to alter it .i had to drill a small hole in the outer plastic case so i could adjust it on the move .easy peasy
