Replacing CV boots on an ADD IFS Surf

Post by dazza85 »

Help.
How do you get the hub off the axle to replace the CV boots on the drivers side of a 91 IFS Surf??
What do I watch out for ??

The boots have split and need to be replaced.
I am planing to do the pair on this side .... Would you do this or would you just replace the split one ??

II thought that I had seen something on here before but cant find it

Thanks,
Thats what I needed. I find it's always good to have some idea of what you are doing before you attack a job like this.

I wouldn't bother doing the inner boots if it was me, the outers wear a lot quicker than the inners. Check them and if they are okay with no cracks or heavy wear lines I would leave them alone.

Get used to doing this, if you lift you truck and work it offroad you will do this a lot :-)

Take the swaybar off on one side and it's easy peasy. Make sure you have a 50mm socket for the large nuts or alternatively use a punch to spin them off and on again tightening the first nut until there is almost no forwards backwards movement of the wheel but that it still spins freely.

Could be right.

You don't need to undo the nuts but it's worth checking the wheel bearing play whilst you have things apart.
