diffs heads

well looked ar my front diff today and low and behold broken teeth on crown wheel and pinion,result from last trip,woops, so since i have to replace it was curious if a rear diff head with a factory locker would fit into the front housing? provided i use same ratios, would this work?

nope. what engine is in yours? i have a couple of spare front diffs here.
the pajero rear is a 9inch , 3ltr v6 manuals have a 8inch front diff. the auto v6 and 2.5dt (5spd and auto) have a 7.25 inch front diff.

Sam you can get lockers for the front. i've seen them in a auzzy site about $1700 aus. ill have a look and see if i can find it again and send it to you. Good luck. front iffs are easy to pull out. after doing the VX

Sam is right - won't work.

But as red devil suggests you can get replacement diff centres. Pajero boy - you have a 2,5 from memory with a 5.29 ratio... That is the smaller diff and so the diff lockers red devil talks about won't work either. Not without alot of work.

Well done on breaking the diff. That is a pretty sound effort! Were you being particually severe in reverse as I'd be surprised if you broke it going forwards with the reverse cut high pinion gears.

well crap then, there goes that plain,are the lsd ones the same sizes as the locker ones?

yeah was buried up half way up the doors in muddy shingle shity stuff,hurd a bang and just thought is was a c.v kinda wish it was now

yeah its the 2.5 soft top model with the 5.29 ratio, just a shame that i cant just steel the one from red devils one

yes you can get lockers to fit, but you cant get a factroy rear locker to fit in the front.

do you have one to fit wacko?

yep ive got one here but im in wellyington so freight would be a bit steep. your prob better off searching trademe or the wreckers. but if you get stuck its here.

did a little more looking sam sorry were out of luck need to have the v6 or the older modle you may be lucky with my front end, im starting to think about the that truck and were i should plan new truck or fix the motor.
