Landcruiser 80 Dash Warning Lights Question

Post by suzolla »

Hi,
Went for small detour over some bumpy ground with the kids the other day, when I stopped to go back to high range a bunch of warning lights came on, see the photo below. When I increased the revs they all went off.
Checked it out again last night and this is what happens.
Switch on and all the lights come on as usual.
Start the engine and let it idle and the 2 turbo lights and the bottm 3 lights stay on.
When the revs are increased to about 1000 all the lights go off.
When the revs are increased further the green turbo light comes on as normal
When the revs drop back to idle sometimes the lights come back on and sometimes they stay off.

Does anyone know what the cause is.

Also what is the 3rd light from the left at the bottom for.

Thanks
Tim

I would ask a toyota technician, as it may a sequence of warning lights that point out a sepecific problem

and I would check it asap

Those are the same lights that come on when you turn your key to the ignition on position.

To me it would indicate the alternator had stopped charging (i got all the lights on the dash up just like in your pic after doing a deep water crossing at anzac weekend)

I had the same problem about a month ago,it will be a alternator problem for sure ..mine happened after going through Waipuna Caves, mind you we had been through deep water a couple of weeks before, the auto electrician pulled apart the alternator and found the brushs sticking with silt, replaced the brushs and is now as good as new
The third light on the left is the fuel/water warning light

Thanks for the replies, also talked to Toyato who also said it was probably to do with the alternator. So I will check it out tomorrow.

Thanks

Re: Landcruiser 80 Dash Warning Lights Question Fixed, Alt Brush

Thanks for all of the replies, now fixed.
$12 for the brush assembly, had to machine the slip rings in the lathe.
All back together and going well.
