Spark Arresters - why would you?

Post by BrentC »

I notice that delta4x4 sell a spark arrester

Would you need one if you have a turbo diesel and good exhaust?

 Because you should

Save yourself a few bucks and go to a $2 shop, buy a s/steel sieve and use the mesh from that.
That's what I did and its lasted over a year so far! 8)
Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

yep - been there and done that

I am waiting for the answer that says "use of spark arresters are not needed in turbo charged vehicles etc and that use of them should have died with the dodo and the last Land Rover converted to a holden motor" ??

half correct there brent. in the forests that go in throughout canterbury spark arrestors are only compulsory on non turbo diesels. however, ideally it would be wise to put one on all vehicles. you dont wantto lump the cost of burning down a forest!
