I was going to put a 2jz in my rig got it in the hole ,wired up and found out it had droped a valve
I payed $700 for it and $1800 futher to get it all conected up to the manuel box .

now I am going for the comy 3.8 v6 I bought a hole car for $400 and a adaptor plate for $900 and thats all I will need to hook it up . I would not bother with the m series motors as they are old and the comy is a small compac motor with heaps of torque

Agree with Chops - bang for buck the commo is hands down one of the better conversions.

where did you get the adaptor from how much xtra do you think it would cost for new engine mounts, cross member and wiring in etc i could handle putting it in the hole and bolting it up and getting fuel to it but dont think id be to great with the rest, thats why i was in favour of keeping it toyota plus im on a real low budget but the v6 i agree would be the better option.

CHOPPER01? you gona do a build thread when you install the comy engine? ide be keen to follow it, ive owned 4 comys with the 3.8s and i rekon they the bees knees. I too have a beam axle surf and in the near future like to think im gona buy a complete running comy, for the 3.8 conversion, best thing since sliced bread them 3.8s.
do it right, do it dirty
