Overheating g16a in 413

Post by godzook »

I have just Finished Puting in the G16a into my SJ413 took it out for a play today and it gets a bit hot but more so on the open road up hills it still has the factory 1300 radiator and supercheap eletric fan (which i was told is as good as any thing else) new themostat. The next step would be to get a larger-core alloy radiator. just wondering if any one else that has done the 1600 convertion has had any problems with it overheating. And What you used for a carby because my one is playing up but it did with the 1300

Supercheap fans are crap. Ive been having problems with mine as well and i run two. Suggest if you can fit, try a VN -VS commy fan (can get them for $40 her in naki) i would say easy 5 x the air from it.

May be a silly question but is your radiator in good condition?
I know in my vitara I had endless trouble with it overheating even after spending a couple of hours cleaning the radiator out. I swapped radiators to one that had never been offroad, and haven't had any trouble since...

I've done the g16a swap (FI) and used the 1300 radiator which I did wash the mud out of. I used the clutch fan and used an electric fan on the front but it hardly ever cuts in. I also have a high mount fan blocking straight through air flow. I'd say you have more problems than the radiator.

I too have done the 1600 swap on my 413, but i used an old copper rad out of a l300 van and am using a electric fan from a 1500cc honda civic on a thermo switch and have had no over heating problems.....
but i was running the 1300 rad on a carbed 1600 and had no issues there either....

I took the eletric one off and put on a factory g16a one and seems to be better so far. just got to get a fan cover made up to control the air flow better
