Hi out there, I need some constructive advise and suggestions in regards to my present blow by issues. I have a 3L engined Lux with CT20 fitted. I've just recently reconned the engine and fitted another second hand CT20 (which had supposedly been reconned 20000k's ago), including fitting brand new water pump, belts etc and have been dealing with blow by issues since. I have replaced one hose between turbo and intake manifold due to wear and leakage, have blown by pass hose on thermostat twice and replaced this with new hose. I am figuring that this has resulted from increased pressure. The big issues I am having is oil leakage at the turbo and a real loss of power on sustained, steep hill climbs resulting in the engine smelling very hot and not sounding how I would expect a reconned engine to sound. On the flat, no worries. Has been suggested catch can is good starting point but what sort of features are recommended on these, pipe size in and out, that kind of thing. Have discounted radiator core and thermo-stat as being issue as core is only year old as is thermostat, both are clean and working, though radiator cap pops a lot later than I would expect, usually about the time I am stationary with the bonnet up looking for leaks. Timing appears to be all good.
Some research I have seen has suggested catch can will increase power and keep engine cooler, is this the case?
Any help appreciated.
