so how do you find it, am looking at that radio too,
having both am as well as uhf in one set makes it easy to fit in the 4x4...
gotta '93 Mu, 2.8 td, auto, on 31x10.5x15's, and a 40ch CB,(am)

the new toy is, '98 Suzuki Carry, 660cc, 3 cyl petrol, 4x4, on 12" muddies

Did you get this sorted out? From someone who fixes radios for a job it sounds to me like the squelch frequency generator system has drifted off. Squelch works by broadcasting a specific tone (inaudibly - usually around 150hz) that trips a relay and sets the receive side of the radio in operation. By pressing the mon button you are effective bypassing this circuit and turning the speaker on. The adjustment that northland_pajero talked about would have to reset the squelch tone - an extremely easy fix when you have the right gear!

check the CSST (or similar), Make sure the code is set to 0 or off, unless the sending radio is set to the same code your radio will filter it out
