Do a compression test. You will find it is probably low. 4d56 blocks had very soft bores.

well we had a nosey at this today, found that the glows were shot(the new ones terry got) changed them over still no luck.has got lots of fuel getting to injectors, has air fuel and glow, starter motor working fine,so still leading to compression.

does anyone know of where we could borrow a diesel compression tester from.
starting to feel bit bad for my mate terry a,wanna get his POS up and running again.

Did you check if you're getting power to the Glowplugs. the Glow plug relays could be dead. Chuck a jumper lead from the front battery to the link between the plugs, give it a few seconds and try starting it. Don't leave it there for too long, 15 secs tops.
