don't know if its what you're after, but I have a hilux 5-speed and transfer case, it's out of a 1988 hilux, it's the W56 model, getting hard to find and are the strong boxes
I bought it, fitted it to my truck and thought it was noisy in 4th and 5th, so took it out and bought another only to find exactly the same noise in 4th and 5th
, noise is coming from the diff and being transferred to gearbox
, pulled out the diff and found one very buggerd pinion (looks like someone's been eating it) so after the long explanation, there is nothing wrong with the box, it's the bloody diff
yours for $220

Try a Bundera or sx Prado. They are offset I'm just not sure about bellhousings.
I've got a LN61 Surf with a W56 gearbox. Are the transfercases the same as on the Hiluxes ie gear ratios. I was wondering if there is anything with a lower low range as my petrol runs away quite badly on step decents.
The other thing to consider is which side it offsets too
I'm looking at doing a 70 series 5 speed box to a lexus ... or maybee a modified A340(prado & surf) auto box and a clutch, use the clutch to start and stop but change gears with the auto once moving
well... as soon as I can sort some funds

Use a 60-or 70-series 5-speed box which will give you your offset. Don't use a hilux one - G52 or W56, they are both designed for low-output motors and you'll chew them to pieces in short order with the 1UZ.
The Bundera uses an R-series box from memory, which is supposed to be stronger - but you can find R-series 5-speeds under 5-door surfs too... only the output is centred. Not sure if the Bundera has an offset rear - or the SX Prados for that matter... aren't they centred?

As far as I am aware Bunderas & Prados are offset. A mate has just put one in a Landrover.
