drum brakes to dics need to cert?

Post by aroma »

Hi ya
looking at putting disc brake(s) on my 75 cj4a jeep currently has drums all round with a non vacun assist master cyclinder mounted on the chassis rail all original manf

belive vitara dics fit behind the factory jeep hubs and would have to weld/attach bracket for the caliper on both front and rear and would have to replace the master cycliner with a vacum assist one off a vehicle with drum's and disc's unless i replace both front and rear drum's when i would need master cyclinder from vehicle with disc all round

hope this makes sense did in my head :D
thanks
warren
oops the real question was do i need to certify this change??

You will need to get this certified, you are changing the brake system and there is a test to see if it is still done to standard, you also have to have your work (welding) signed off by someone.

Basicly if it is welded it requires cert, if it is to do with saftey (brakes, suspension and steering changes) it requires cert, if it is just bolt on no changes are required.
