The 'U' refers to emmision control on the engine... totally irrelevant to the grand scheme of things... its a 6M  buy it! :P

6 - 6th generation of this series of motors.
M - M-series 6-cylinder petrol motor
G - Performance head, wide valve angle
E - Electronic fuel injection
U - Jap emission control

overcast_nz wrote:wrong... g means twin cam.....

Its going to be very hard to get a wide angle on a single cam head

There are two main styles of twin cam motor... narrow (economy) angle and wide (performance) angle.

G = twin cam, performance head, wide angle between valve banks.

F = twin cam, economy head, narrow angle between valve banks.

Apology accepted in advance 8)

OK then mr. smarty pants... give me back my crossmember, I don't want to play in this sandpit any more  ...just kidding...

Back to my point tho... which I think you are missing. G and F both designate twin-cam heads - regardless of how they operate. G does NOT just mean twin cam head, which is what you tried to say.

Case closed tho, theres no point arguing the topic as I'm not a mechanic and at the end of the day it doesn't matter... I was just trying to help, not confuse the issue.

My advice, for what its worth... but the 6M off Pinky, far more fun option than a 1G... or I'll buy it just so you can't have it

...then you think you could at least know how to SPELL Toyota...

good luck buying the motor... and if you're going to participate on this forum then it would be appreciated if you got your own login - bad nettiquite to masquerade on a forum like that. As I said, I'm done on the topic - I was only trying to help. DON'T bother replying to this, just buy the motor and go away.

Ignore all my posts, seems my flatmate used it while I was at work and I stupidly left it logged in and he thinks he knows it all.

Btw Steve I know how to spell toyota ;)

and it seems I have found myself a 1ggeu complete.

Apoligies all round
