Diff Oil For Mitsi Locker Diff

Post by suzolla »

Hi,
I have just got an ex rally truck based of a Mitsi Pajero. has a Mitsi air locker rear diff which also appears to operate sort of like a LSD as it appears to have clutch plates in it. Have changed the diff head as the teeth on the locker part were worn off.

What oil should i use, EP85/90 or LSD oil.

Thanks for any advice.

HI, yes the mitsubishi factory lockers are LSD as well. But they contain less clutch plates than a full LSD.

I just run normal gear oil in mine as the reason for having it is the locking part.

With regards to the teeth worn off, if you are running big tyres and pushing it very hard on hard surfaces, you run the risk of sheering the teeeth off the locker itself, something to bear in mind.
