5mge problem with surging

5mge in surf 1988 having problem reving but it idles ok replaced filter and check out the vl holden feul pump all ok checked plugs and empted fuel tank runing out of ideas please .it was runing ok one day then that after noon started to play up.

just to note:gavs surf revs ok with no load, but when driven has distinctive "flat" spots inthe power, and not consistant with any particular rev or speed... :(

check if pump has a screen in the intake as it will cause a fuel restriction when under power, had this happen on my older surf, check fuel hose on intake make sure the pump isnt sucking it closed,

Check the rubber pipes that hook up the cross over pipe from the AFM to the injection. Don't be shy to give them a good tweek to see if there are splits in them. Have had a couple do this to me, and it sucks all the power out.
