just got a qouta from dellow automotive for a bellhousing adataptor but the only problem i have at the moment is that it is not long enought to fit the engien that i have allready . A sires 1 vn 3.8 v6 so that means that the throttle body is at the back of the motor which means that the throttle body will touch the fire wall and i want to keep the truck road legeal so i cant just massarge it with a sledge hammer . has any one moved the trottle body foward befor and if so can i see sum pic plese or what are people thorts on what is the next best series motor to get. Any help much helpful.
I fitted same kit with same engine into my 87 d-cab hilux, i changed shifter/x-member/ drive shafts etc as it was running a holden auto and motor was already mounted and certed etc. Where in nz are you? come look at mine if your near chch
I've got the same motor in my 84 surf with a marks kit. fits in there quite nicely no signs of firewall massaging and still a little bit of room behind. I'm changing to series 2 motor soon, apparently better motor and the thermostat is at the front instead of the back where you can't get to it
comilux is also running the hilux 5 speed, it had the holden auto but changed it to the 5 speed using an adaptor, it all went together nicely but obviously the length was now different which was why he had to move the cross member/shifters and change driveshafts. He could of just pushed the engine back but it was already mounted and as you have seen it gets a bit tight for space.
Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level then beat you with experiance!
thanks gimmemud for the info i have looked at the marks kit it is made longer than the dellow kit that is y it fits with just enough room to spear but i got quoted at just over 2k for just the bellhousing to get it to nz were as the dellows kit is loking at 1500 bucks thanks for the info
sorry rangimotors read the reply from comilux wrong thanks for the info

Have you thought about getting an engineer to make one for you? Surely someone out there could make it for cheaper than that
i have talked to a few people most of them think to seem it will cost about 1k and most of them have about 6 months of work ahead of them but i am still wating on a few replays
try asking some of the stockcar boys some of them run the v6 with toyota boxs will ask a mate who made his think off hand his bellhousing cost him 500 all tho they are steel
thanks justme at this stage i am looking a geting a marks bellhousing from aus but anyway i can get it cheper will be a plus will be intresting to see how he made thanks for the info
