How can i tell if the case i have is the one needed for the
rockhopper? its got a plug at the front and wires,is that the one
or do they all have that?

Should be the one. The earlier ones had no switchs (plugs/wires). Only the 1984 models had them (last year they were produced) Failing that pull it apart and count the teeth.
